A devastating fire broke out at Dongtol Bazar in Assam just before the Durga Puja festivities. This sudden disaster caused panic in the market and left traders in a state of despair. According to reports, a total of 18 shops were completely destroyed in the fire. As the shops were stocked with various goods for the festive season, the extent of the damage is estimated to be significant.

The fire spread rapidly, leaving many traders destitute. Many have lost their entire livelihood as they watched their shops burn. The incident, occurring during preparations for a major festival like Durga Puja, has created deep sorrow and concern across the region.

Local people and eyewitnesses acted quickly to control the fire, but the intensity was so high that it was not possible to save the 18 shops. This tragic situation at the market has raised several important questions regarding the livelihoods and safety measures for common people.

Following the incident, the process of accurately assessing the damage at both the administrative and local levels is expected to begin. It is not yet clear what measures will be taken to assist the traders in recovering from these losses during the festive season.
