The tension prevailing across the state over the untimely death of artist Zubeen Garg took a new turn today. Hundreds of people gathered near the Secretariat in Dispur, Guwahati, to protest and demand a proper investigation into the case and punishment for the guilty. After the situation turned volatile at the protest site, the police detained several leaders of the Raijor Dal and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti in the interest of maintaining law and order.

The artist's wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has extended her full support to this protest. Speaking to the media, she clarified that there should be no leniency or soft approach towards the accused. According to her, the delay in the justice process has created dissatisfaction among the public as well as the family.

It is noteworthy that the Assam government has already approached the Supreme Court to cancel the bail of those involved in this case. While the government side claims that the case is being taken seriously, protesters have been raising questions about the investigation process.

This incident is not limited to the death of a popular artist; it is also being considered a question of public trust in the state's law and order and judicial system. All eyes are now focused on the subsequent instructions from the investigating agency CID and the Supreme Court.
